In light of the recent Government news that funding for many charities will soon be slashed, the Home Office has announced that from 1st October 2009, the Criminal Records Bureau will cut the costs of standard disclosures from £31 to £26.
The Home Office confirmed the reason for this reduction was due to "an expected increase in the volume of disclosure applications being processed".
The cost of enhanced checks which are used mainly by charities whose staff work with vunerable adults and children will remain altered at £36.
Whilst this maybe seen by some as just a small helping hand when much more is needed, the fact that CRB checks for many are being reduced and for others not being increased would seem to be a step in the right direction.
For charities, community groups and many other not for profit organisations, times are tough so as a well known supermarket chain might say, every little helps.
“On behalf of Longbridge Youth Club, I would like to state how satisfied I am with the Contents and Liability Insurance taken out with NCi Charity.
I am in the process of starting up a series of new Youth Clubs and would not hesitate to use your services for these new projects. I intend to use your Policy as a standard in each of these Youth Clubs.”
