Based on the results of a recent survey of over 2500 UK parents, it seems our love affair with nursery rhymes is coming to an end.
The survey was run for National Bookstart Day, which gives free packs of books to every child in the UK and encourages sharing books and rhymes with children from as young an age as possible.
And the results make interesting reading as just 36 percent of those questionned said they regularly read nursery rhymes to their children.
And it seems their is also a battle of the sexes when it comes to nursery rhymes with 32 percent of men saying they never recite nursery rhymes to their children compared to just 16 percent of women.
Commenting on the results of the survey, Mark Burdett of NCi Nursery, The UK's Nursery Insurance Brokers had this to say, "I think it's a shame that the good old nursery rhyme is becoming less popular. I was always a Humpty Dumpty fan and maybe him falling off the wall somehow led me into the insurance industry and wanting to help people who suffered a loss. Perhaps we just need Simon Cowell to have a nursery rhyme week on X Factor to get the nation twinkle twinkle little starring again."
“Upon opening my first children's nursery in April 2007 I turned to NCi Nursery on the phone and asked for help and assistance with the whole insurance package for my new venture.
NCi Nursery guided me through the forms, quotes and paperwork over the phone and made it all seem so much easier and less hassle. I have continued to speak to NCi Nursery over the last three years when changes have been made to my policy etc and have always been totally satisfied and impressed with the service I have received.
Many thanks for the ongoing help and support you always provide.”
